BODY (S)CUL(P)TURE Francesca Fini personal exhibition at Fondazione Zoli

On Monday, September 2, at 7 PM, the BODY (S)CUL(P)TURE exhibition will open at the Dino Zoli Foundation in Forlì. This marks Francesca Fini's first solo show in the city and serves as a prologue to Ibrida – International Festival of Intermedia Arts, scheduled to take place in Forlì from September 19 to 22.

The exhibition, part of the Ibrida Festival program, is produced by Vertov Project and PubliOne Società Benefit in collaboration with the Dino Zoli Foundation and curated by moving image historian Bruno Di Marino.

"After last year's exhibition dedicated to pre-cinema machines and Virgilio Villoresi's animations, we now explore the interaction between humans and technology with an all-encompassing artist like Francesca Fini, who moves from performance art to artificial intelligence," explain Francesca Leoni and Davide Mastrangelo, Artistic Directors of Ibrida Festival. "Fini has participated in Ibrida multiple times with her works and performances and even created the image for the 2024 edition of the Festival."

"The relationship between humans and technology is at the heart of this exhibition," they add, "which strengthens the collaboration between Ibrida Festival and the Dino Zoli Foundation and introduces this year's Festival theme: Artificial Reality. Building synergies with other institutions allows us to grow together and provide the region with high-level cultural activities. Our partnership with the Foundation has broadened our horizons and brought prominent artists from the digital and technological art scene to Forlì."

"The Dino Zoli Foundation immediately embraced Ibrida's proposal of BODY (S)CUL(P)TURE due to the artist's ability to blend the human and the artificial, the organic and the synthetic in her creative process," says Nadia Stefanel, director of the Dino Zoli Foundation. "This path interests the entire Dino Zoli Group, of which the Foundation is the cultural soul. Artificial Intelligence has been chosen as the topic for 2024, a term that has been defining every field of analysis, both scientific and creative."

Francesca Fini (Rome, 1970) is an intermedia artist who has always worked in the contemporary field where the arts hybridize, ranging from performance art to interaction technology, sound design, experimental video cinema, digital animation, and painting. Her projects often address issues related to the relationship between public and private space, between spectacle and spectator, between representation and interaction. They also reflect on society's influence on gender issues and the distortion of beauty perceptions produced by the market and mainstream media. Over the years, she has presented her work at MACRO Asilo and MAXXI in Rome, the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, the Schusev State Museum of Architecture in Moscow, the Tese dell’Arsenale in Venice, the Georgia Institute of Technology, the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna, the University of Coimbra, the Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute in Calcutta, ESAD University in Caldas da Rainha, and many other international museums and institutions.

The exhibition will be accompanied by a catalog featuring a critical introduction by the curator, moving image historian Bruno Di Marino, a conversation with the artist, and information about her multifaceted production.

BODY (S)CUL(P)TURE is open for free from September 2 until October 13.

The Dino Zoli Foundation (Viale Bologna 288, Forlì) is open to the public from Tuesday to Thursday from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM, and from Friday to Sunday from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM and from 4:30 PM to 7:30 PM. Admission is free and open to all.
